How about this for a start? Please check those you like

Loyal Minion
Follower
Knight
Hell Knight
Living Legend

Doom Legion (mods?)
Overlord (admins?)
The latter 2 sound nice, seeing how these enforce rules.

About the groups, any privileges associated with these, like access to private sections for frequent contributors, or elevated forum rights ?

'fraid not. You gotta be a mod for that. Given the fact that there are only about 30 members on the site at the mement.....

Then right now is the best time for candidatures, rather than later when it's crowded and difficultly manageable.

I've checked a demo SMF, looks straightforward enough compared to myBB.

Well obviously I will always pay attention to member behavior.
Yeah, I went to smf from Invision after it stopped being free. I had a good look through when I did the upgrade a year or so back and it was the best free one I could find.

myBB current version looks good right now, seemingly better that 1.1.3 in features. It also has a bigger user and theming community, so theming and customisation isnt an issue. It also seems to provide superior safety and flood management.

SMF 2.0 and the current myBB would seem to be equivalent, so at least there's a viable alternative just in case.

Meh, I don't really feel like converting the board at the moment. I think it'd just be a pain.

Probably. As long as spam is somewhat under control, I'm not sure if we need extra board features.

Extra stuff and better management never harmed anyone, and captchas have become too easy to decode.
